Following open and fair competition I’m very pleased to announce Warren Smith as the new Director of the Digital Marketplace Programme, the team that manages transforming the way the public sector buys digital and cloud services.
Warren has been covering the role as interim Director for the past 5 months and during his time in this position he has helped launch the Digital Outcomes and Specialists framework in the Digital Marketplace, championed open data standards in public procurement and contracting and provided thought leadership to the US government on user-centered contract design, as a US/UK collaboration and a potential Presidential Acquisition Innovation Lab project.
He is ideally placed to continue the development of the Digital Marketplace, creating the right environment and circumstances for his team to get on and do the things they need to do. Leading procurement transformation to support the GDS Technology Group’s wider reforms, ensuring government has the right technology and capability to deliver great public services.
Warren will work closely with teams across GDS, and in particular the Common Technology Services team, to help deliver the products and solutions that can be shared across the public sector. As well as continuing to strengthen relationships with colleagues in Crown Commercial Services and Government Legal Department and other departments across government.
